In iOS 16's Mail app, you can now schedule emails to send at a later time.
The ability to schedule emails in iOS has been long overdue. Many of the best iPhone email apps allow you to schedule when outgoing messages are sent. However, Apple's Mail app has not been one of them. This is changing with iOS 16, which allows you to send scheduled email so that messages are delivered when you want them to.
You can use schedule send to ensure that your email reaches your boss's inbox when you know she's checking her messages. Scheduled Send also allows you to write emails whenever inspiration strikes, but send them at a more convenient time.
The scheduled send feature in iOS 16 Mail is simple to use, but not so simple to find. We'll show you how to send scheduled email in iOS 16 Mail so that all of your messages arrive on time.
How to schedule emails in iOS 16 Mail
1. After you've finished writing your message in iOS 16 Mail, tap and hold the Send button — the arrow in the upper right corner next to your email's subject line.
It is critical that you hold down the arrow; if you simply tap it, the email message is sent immediately.
2. A menu will appear in the form of a pop-up. You can send the message now, later tonight, or first thing the next morning. There's also a Send Later option, which gives you more flexibility with scheduling. Select one of the options. We'll be using Send Later.
3. You will see a calendar. Tap on the date you want to send the message, or simply leave it at the current date if you want it to go out today.
4. Tap on the time to choose the time for which you want to schedule your email. Set the hour and minute with the rollers, and then tap Time Zone to select a time zone (by default, the time zone will be the one you're currently in).
5. When you've selected the appropriate time, tap done.
6. Your message has now been scheduled. You can see your email queue by going to the Mailboxes screen and tapping the Send Later option.
7. To change the time for which you want to send an email, tap the message and then select edit. Swiping left on the message and tapping Delete will also delete the scheduled email.
That's it for sending a scheduled email in iOS 16 Mail. It's one of many changes coming to the iPhone from Apple.
We've got hints on how to use iOS 16's new features, such as how to edit or unsend a text message in Messages. In iOS 16, you can also customise your iPhone's lock screen and change how notifications appear on your lock screen. In addition, you can extract a subject from a photograph by removing it from the background and pasting it into an email. It is entirely up to you whether you schedule that email to be sent later.
